What is Manvel High School Art Bikes?
Currently students at Manvel High School are creating art bicycle
contraptions like the one seen here.
Student use a collection of tools and construction techniques to
disassemble non-functioning bicycles and reconstruct them into a single kinetic
ride-able work of art. In this process students learn new forms of modern art that require problem solving, planning, and construction with the use of industrial design and kinetic engineering. Students learn skills such as metal frame fabrication, arc welding, and bicycle construction and repair, as well as benefit by using a variety of common and specialty hand and power tools that are used in a wide spectrum of
construction and engineering in the everyday working world.
Once finished with their creation students will promote Manvel High, The
Art Department, and their community by riding their sculpture creations in
public events, parades, and festivals in and around the surrounding
areas
